Indiana requires out-of-state telehealth providers to obtain a telehealth provider certification

Indiana requires out-of-state providers rendering telehealth services, including to Indiana Medicaid members, to obtain a telehealth provider certification under IC 25-1-9.5-9. This is an additional registration and compliance obligation beyond home-state licensure for clinicians who want to treat Indiana patients remotely. The requirement adds administrative cost and delay that can deter out-of-state specialists from serving Indiana patients.
