Summary

Under Florida Statute 456.47, a clinician not licensed in Florida may treat Florida patients via telehealth only after registering with the applicable board. Registrants must designate a Florida registered agent, carry liability coverage, and may not open an office or provide in-person care in the state.

Per the 2025 Florida Statutes 456.47 and CCHP's Florida page, out-of-state health professionals must register as telehealth providers, hold an active unencumbered out-of-state license, maintain liability coverage, and designate a Florida registered agent before treating Florida patients. Registrants may not open a Florida office or deliver in-person care. Exemptions apply only for emergencies or consultations with a Florida-licensed provider. This is an administrative barrier for out-of-state providers and the Florida patients seeking remote care.
